KCPC Paddlers in the action at the Junior Liffey Descent.

Gareth and Chris put in a blistering performance in this years Junior Liffey Descent...

Both were competing in the GP class which takes on average approximately 90 minutes to complete from the start at SLCC, across Leixlip lake, the portage around Leixlip dam, re-entry at Salmon Leap bridge and shoot the 4 weirs on the way to the finish at the ICU Centre.
Both Paddlers positioned themselves to the forefront at the start and kept a competitive paddling rhythm throughout the race. No time was taken to recuperate at the portage after the 20 minute hard paddle across the lake, it was simply pick up the kayak, hike to the bridge, re-enter and line up for the first set of rapids and on to the finish. Both Paddlers achieved extremely good personal performances by knocking ~15 minutes each off their 2008 times for the same race. Congratulations to Gareth and Chris on this achievement.
